As fitness options grow, users struggle to find nearby gyms, explore amenities, and check in easily while gym owners lack tools for real-time monitoring and smooth check-in management. REP Gympass bridges this gap with a seamless platform for discovery, booking, and facility control.

Challenges

In developing REP Gympass, we faced challenges in delivering accurate gym discovery based on user location and amenity filters across diverse facilities. Integrating real-time availability and session booking with varying gym infrastructures required custom solutions for consistency and reliability. Implementing a secure and frictionless QR-based check-in system that works seamlessly across multiple devices and networks also proved complex. Additionally, building a real-time activity monitoring dashboard for gym owners that remains scalable and intuitive introduced further technical and design hurdles.

Strategy

We began by analyzing user behavior and gym operations to understand pain points in discovery, booking, and check-in processes. Based on these insights, we designed a unified mobile platform that simplifies gym access for users while equipping gym owners with real-time management tools and data-driven insights.

  • QR-based check-ins for fast, secure, and contactless gym entry.
  • Real-time admin dashboard that allows gym owners to monitor user activity and manage operations efficiently.
  • Scalable infrastructure designed to support multi-location gyms and high user traffic seamlessly.

Project Stages

Discovery

We began by understanding both sides of the platform: members who want an easy way to find and access gyms, and owners who need better control over check-ins and daily operations. Through stakeholder interviews and a close look at existing gym workflows, we defined the key user journeys, booking rules and multi-location requirements. The result was a clear scope document that guided the rest of the project.

Product Design

Using Figma, we designed one app with two distinct experiences: a member view built around quick discovery, booking and check-in, and an owner view focused on live activity and facility management. A shared design system kept both views consistent, so every user gets the same polished experience.

App Development

We built the app in React Native with Firebase powering real-time data. Members can find nearby gyms on Google Maps, filter by amenities, book sessions, pay through Stripe and check in with a QR code. Gym owners switch to a dedicated management view to verify check-ins, monitor live activity, manage bookings and oversee multiple locations, all from their phone.

Launch & Growth

We set up CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing and fast, reliable releases, and handled publishing to the App Store and Google Play. Since launch, more than 250 gyms have joined the platform. Built-in analytics and in-app user feedback show us how members and owners use the app, helping us prioritize improvements with every update.
